Wanted to do a quick post of the things keeping me busy lately.
First are curtains and pillows for a neighbor. The curtains hang in 2 "skylight" type windows--- slanted roof- so needed to have rod pockets on both top and bottom to keep them in place.
She luckily had found the rust fabric, that matched perfectly to some gaming chairs, as a remnant that was big enough to do the curtains but not enough to do pillows in it as she originally wanted. I was able to construct these pillows using the bit of leftover as the starting point.
The flip side is just the rust and tan fabric- slightly larger rust squares. I am really digging them.
I also changed all the kids rooms around back in late May/early June. Younger son's room I only had to paint one blue wall. DD painted the Jimi Hendrix next to the window.
Older son's room I had to paint all the walls since it was yellow from DD.
I hung flat twin sheets with clip rings until I did his curtains.
The little roll top desk was actually a piece of furniture from my childhood. I stripped it (at one point I had painted it with grey fleckstone paint) and stained & sealed it. My mom commented on how nice it looked and it touched her that I fixed it up.
DD did the Stevie Ray Vaughn painting next to the closet.
He actually keeps his room looking like this all the time. Thus a lot of the reason he wanted to have his own room since youngest is a piggy. If you walked into youngest son's room right now you'd find his quilt on the floor, bed unmade, and things laying around. I had found a curtain at TJ Maxx that matched the blue perfectly but of course it was only the one and too small for this window. So I used it as my starting point. I finished them up on Friday and he commented on Saturday morning how he slept longer because the sunlight didn't wake him.
The material is all microsuede and I'm very pleased with the results.
DD got the bonus room/suite
-- she gave up bathroom that had vanity with six drawers for a much larger room and walk-in closet.
I found a table at Hobby Lobby that I made into her makeup station.
We rarely saw her before when she had a room right off the living room. Now we almost never see her.
Last are scarves I've knitted. DD learned to knit while attending Governor's Scholar Program. I had always wanted to learn so she taught me. The black scarf I want add the "Steeler Gold" fringe to. It is a much tighter knit so it took me a while to complete it. I've tried to upload the photo and it's not been successful WTF vox??? This post has taken forever to get together with all the photos because it seems like the first one loads quickly but then I have to save and navigate away to get additional stuff to load and it's much slower... GRRRRRRRR! Anyway, it's a rather tight knit plain black scarf that I plan to add orange/yellow fringe to eventually to make it "Steelers" themed. My second project was this multi-colored scarf. I started it Saturday evening and had finished by Sunday night because I used much larger needles.
I love how soft this is and I love the multi-colored yarn. I've started a larger "prayer" scarf in this kind of yarn (different colors) to use when I'm chilly & at my computer this winter.
I take my knitting along to son's football games and it's really nice to "watch" TV while working on a project. Can you tell I'm hooked on it? LOL
This morning I also did my Fit Flop washing. Every so often I scrub up my collection of Fit Flops and let them dry in the shower. LOL I also had a photo of the pairs of them lined up against the shower walls but this has taken long enough to get up and I need to run to get DH oil filter so he can change oil in co. car.
